Addison Milan has taken her two younger siblings and escaped their drug addicted mother. She lands in the small town of Creek Hills. She and her young siblings live in a van. She is determined to keep them together and will do whatever information technology takes to make sure that happens. She is a wary, independent, strong, caring young adult female full of life despite her circumstances.
Caine is a crude, grumbly, alpha, protective, stiff, sexy, caring and generous cop. He meets Addison when she begins working at the diner. He spends a few hours nightly talking with her and drinking the awful java served in that location before going in to work the nighttime shift.
Theirs is a slow building relationship. Understandably so with her by and secrets. He's been burned and not in any hurry to put himself out there again, and he's concerned with their historic period divergence (9 years). A stalker brings them together and tears them autonomously the aforementioned nighttime.

This book begins 7 years later. They have been living separate lives, each still pining for the other, each having tried to motility on but unable to.
The story starts a piddling slow but gains momentum. Lots packed into this volume. The secondary characters are just as interesting. They add together a lot to the story without taking annihilation away from the main characters. I loved how information technology all came full circle with her friends from Creek Hills.
I love the phrase snot waffle jackhole! I never saw the twist at the end coming. This duet is a skilful mix of mystery, suspense and romance.
I have read most of her books and have enjoyed them all. The author does a dandy job of pulling out all your emotions.
